First of all, what on earth is it…?  
A Default Diary is a schedule you have in place that details everything you do on a weekly basis, down to the nearest 15 minutes. This includes weekly meetings, work breaks, gym sessions, dog walks, outbound calls, and if you’re not yet utilising your time; Admin. Input anything you do regularly, and the beauty of doing so means you can refine exactly what your precious time is being spent on. This would be the perfect first step in the guidebook for “Working smarter not harder”. 
The idea is that, by making the important things your default, you make it as easy as physically possible to live in your ideal week, every week. Once it’s been created, trialed, and tested, this schedule will be what you’ll do week by week when you’re on autopilot. In doing this, you’ll quickly clean up your priorities and form daily habits that eventually become second nature. But the whole point is this: The fewer decisions you have to make throughout the day, the more energy you’re able to put towards the tasks at hand. 
The most successful people in the world use a default diary… So now that we’ve established that you need, one where on earth do you find one? All you need to do is send us an email requesting the default diary. 
Start by making a list of the things in your existing routine, with the times that you start and finish work, your regular meetings, the time you are spending organising, any comms that take place, even down to when you have your regular morning coffee. Next, make a list of all of the other things that you do regularly, like when you take your lunch break, when you go on walks, your morning routine, meditation, any exercise you take part in, etc. 
We want to clean up the priorities first, it’s easier to do this with colour coding. So, begin by colour coding everything that makes you money (make this a colour you like). The second priority is your goals. Establish this colour and fill in your weekly tasks that contribute to your short, medium or long-term goals. Finally, you should determine a colour that best fits all of the activities you take part in that function as self-care, as evening walks, meditation, coaching sessions, lunchtime yoga etc. While working at the optimum level, it’s extremely important to replenish yourself - do not skip this part.  
Once these three sections are labelled, you are now ready to organize your default diary and find a schedule that's efficient & effective for you. Enter the blocks of time into your default diary, starting with the meetings/appointments that you have at specific times of the week which can't be moved. Secondly, arrange the tasks you need to be at your optimum energy level of the day. Remember, we only get 3 truly efficient hours of the day - what should you spend them doing? And lastly, fill in the gaps with the low energy tasks such as admin, team meetings & self-care. 
Be sure to make room for time spent enjoying life… after all, that is what we’re here for. This means scheduling time for letting your hair down, which can increase your mind's ability to focus when it counts.
